Cifra is a free daily game about real-world numbers.

Every day, every player gets the same five questions. How many people use the internet? How many calories are in a venti Caramel Frappuccino? How many people play padel in Spain? There are no options to pick from — you type your best estimate and instantly see how close you got.

How it works

• Five questions, once a day. The same puzzle for everyone, with a new one every day at midnight US Eastern time.
• Type a number. Shorthand works: 9m, 1.2bn.
• Scored by how many times off you are, not by units — being 10% off a city's population and 10% off a price score exactly the same. A perfect answer is 1,000 points; a 10% miss is 800.
• Share a spoiler-free grid of coloured squares, Wordle-style, and see who got closer.

• Every answer is sourced. Each figure links to a named source and states the year it is for.
